inspired by gaston bachelard’s seminal philosophical work the poetics of space, this project explores domestic space through the dialectic of outside and inside

the interactive media primarily uses sound and light as storytelling devices, with the lamp in the window personified as that which——like the viewer of the work——also looks, highlighting the relativity of outside and inside

the installation is configured to resemble the exterior wall of a house with three windows, two of which have the blinds drawn whilst one does not; the windows with the blinds drawn represent bachelard's idea that 'outside' and 'inside' "pose problems of metaphysical anthropology that are not symmetrical" as markers of space with unknown dimensions
